GETTING TO AND AROUND BWI
Getting to BWI
DCA is a convenient location for those in the greater Baltimore area to greet an Honor Flight or to volunteer as an Honor Flight Ground Crew member. Many of our Honor Flights use BWI, providing lots of opportunities to volunteer. And there is plenty of validated free parking for greeters and other Honor Flight volunteers.
There are several ways to get to BWI.
Drive and Park – if you drive and park, please park in the Hourly lot and take the Skywalk D (blue arrow on map below) into the terminal. When entering the Hourly lot, please request a parking ticket. Do not enter a credit card. Bring your parking ticket in with you if you’d like to get it validated for free parking.
Go to the Upper Level Information Desk by exit Door 13 (green box on map below) and look for the Honor Flight pop-up banners and volunteer Honor Flight ground crew members in bright yellow neon t-shirts. They will be available until one hour prior to flight arrival time to validate your parking ticket. If you arrive after that time, validation cannot be guaranteed. The Ground Crew cannot validate overnight parking.
When exiting the garage, go to a “Cash” lane and present your validated parking ticket to an live attendant. Do not use the “Credit/Prepaid” lanes. Do NOT put your ticket into a machine – the machines cannot read the validation.
Public transportation – There are plenty of public transportation options to get to BWI, including rail, bus or shuttle. https://www.bwiairport.com/to-from-bwi/transportation/transit.
Both Amtrak and MARC serve BWI. The airport provides free, frequent and convenient shuttle service between the MARC/Amtrak station and the BWI Marshall Airport Terminals. Shuttle Service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Traveling by bus – if you have a group greeting and would like to arrive by bus, please email bwicoordinator@honorflight.org to we can help arrange parking for the bus. We will need a couple of days’ notice for this.
