Getting to DCA
DCA is conveniently located in Arlington, VA close to downtown. There are several ways to get to DCA, but parking at the airport may be difficult, as the parking garages are known to fill up. Read below on ways to get to the airport.
Metro DCA is served by the Blue and Yellow line of the Metro. Hop on the metro with no worries about parking. For Metro hours and closures, https://www.wmata.com/schedules/trip-planner/. When exiting the metro rail car at DCA, follow the signs to Terminal 1 for SWA and Sun Country, and follow the signs to Terminal 2 for American, Alaska and Delta flights.
Parking at DCA – due to capacity issues at the Terminal and Economy parking garages at DCA, the airport is not validating parking for volunteer greeters. If you do desire to park, it is recommended that you reserve your spot 48 hours in advance at DCA Reserve Parking. Otherwise, parking may be limited.
Parking at Crystal City – Parking is free at the Crystal City parking garages 4pm on weekday and all weekend. The garages are open 24/7. These garages are adjacent to the Crystal City metro stop, just one quick spot from the airport.
There is a charge to park during the weekday working hours – with the first hour is free. If you enter after 3pm, and stay past 4pm, your parking is free.
The closest garage to the metro stop is at 1770 Crystal Dr, Arlington, VA. Even though free on weekends, you will need to take a ticket upon entry. When entering the garage, look for overhead signs pointing to the 251 18th St Elevators (should be an immediate left at the bottom of the ramp). Take the 251 elevators (well marked) and go up to Level S (Shoppes level) and then follow the overhead signs a short walk to the Metro. If parking at Crystal City, take the Metro Yellow Line or Blue Line one stop south to DCA (in the direction of Springfield/ Huntington). Upon exiting the garage, enter your ticket and as long as you have entered and exiting during the free hours, you will not be charged
Traveling by bus – if you have a group greeting and would like to arrive by bus, please email dcacoordinator@honorflight.org to we can help arrange parking for the bus. We will need a couple of days’ notice for this.
